The normality of Peace and Tranquility in the Union of Myanmar

(1) At the moment, nation wide mass rallies are being held, denouncing the recent protests and violence, supporting the National Convention and the forthcoming Constitution within the framework of Law and order.

(2) Such mass rallies are vividly showing that the entire Myanmar people prefer peace and tranquility and heartily welcome the new Constitution.

(3) At the moment, stability is being prevailed all over the country and we have fully cooperated with Mr. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, special envoy of UN Secretary General, during his visit in the Union of Myanmar.

(4) Mr. Gambari has discussed with the head of State and Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar for an hour and has met separately with the acting -Prime Minister Lt.General Thein Sein, the spokesperson group led by Minister for Information, Brig General Kyaw Hsan as well. Furthermore, he has met with Daw Aung San Su Kyi in Yangon for two times.

(5) Mr. Gambari has witnessed that normality has now returned to the Union of Myanmar. The 9 pm to 5 am Curfew in Yangon and Mandalay has been scaled back to 10 pm to 4 am.
